John Allen on George Dennison!

If you're a fan of the service movement in Montana or the national level, the names of George Dennison and John Allen should be on your radar. George Dennison, the University of Montana's outgoing president, helped launch the Montana Campus Compact, Campus Corps' host organization back in 1993, and served for years as chair of Montana's Commission on Community Service, the body which helps promote, fund and oversee AmeriCorps state programs.

John Allen is the former director of Montana's Corporation for National and Community Service office. CNCS is the federal agency responsible for funding Learn and Serve, AmeriCorps (including AmeriCorps*VISTA) and Senior Corps programs. John retired a couple of years ago, and George is retiring this August. Both helped spur forward a lot of the ideas and discussions that resulted in MTCC's Campus Corps and VISTA programs. This article (pulled from UM's Montanan alumni magazien) talks about Dennison's legacy.
