MSU Bozeman - Make a Difference Day 2010

"For Make a Difference Day, the MSU Bozeman team participated in two different events. On Friday night, 5 of us volunteered at the Children's Museum with their free Friday night program. Two of us face painted, two of us sold pizza, and another one of us helped kids make milk cartoon spiders. About 50 kids came to the event with about 20 or so adults showing up. The families really appreciated the time together and the opportunity to enjoy the Children's Museum free of cost. Each Friday night the Children's Museum is free and open to the public. The event lasted from 5:00pm- 8:00pm. Then, on Saturday, one of our fearless Campus Corps team members, Jamie Diehl had a service project through her site, HOPA Mountain. The project was a family reading day at the Bozeman Public Library. Families could come and read stories together and then each kid who came was able to receive a free book. About 7 of our members helped with this event. For this project about six families came. Each kid got a couple free books!!! The parents and children really appreciated the time to be together and listen to a story. The kids were really into it! The Children's Museum, HOPA Mountain, and the Bozeman Public Library all were very appreciative of our service!"

Montana Tech (Butte) - Make a Difference Day 2010

Ms. Julia Spangler receives bragging rights for being the first to report on her Make a Difference Day with her team! W00t w00t.

Take a look at the Facebook Album HERE! This is what Julia and her team at MT Tech had to say:

"It's Raining Cats and Dogs!

As a Campus Corps program, hosted by Montana Tech of the University of Montana in Butte America, hosted a Service Project on October 23, 2010 at the Chelsea Bailey Butte Silverbow Animal Shelter. Seven people from the Community attended plus every one of our MT Tech Campus Corps Team Members (15) and our VISTA. Our project started with walking the 21 dogs at 8:00 am. We finished our project with petting cats and walking some more dogs at 5:00pm. The owner of the Chelsea Bailey Butte Silverbow Animal Shelter (Erin Wall) found it extremely helpful of us to serve with her because she has been short staffed and hasn’t been able to put forth the time wants to with the cats and dogs!"

Sounds like those pups and cats were in need of some new energy and compassion! Also Julia mentioned that more photos are on their way, so keep an eye out for those :) Keep it up!

And let's see more of what happened this past weekend, por favor.

Building Engaged Citizens Conference (BEC) 2010!

My goodness gracious, this post is long past due. I've been busy collecting photos and hounding leaders to get the photos posted to facebook. Looks like we've got more than enough!

"On September 25—26, Campus Corps Team Leaders and their Service Team members attended the Building Engaged Citizens (BEC) training at the Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell. Among other things, they learned valuable skills in volunteer recruitment, facilitation, reflection, and sustainability. Everyone had a great time and emerged from the weekend full of new ideas!" - Brad Efford

Here are the links to all the photos that have been taken at the conference, including the service site projects :)
